Family Support Network

readying for the race at the Retreat

The Family Support Network (FSN) is a network of families that have a family member who has a disability. Communitas staff help families foster authentic community, where everyone is loved and accepted just the way they are and where their gifts to the community are valued and appreciated - a place where wounds are not hidden, they don't experience rejection or stigma.

A committee of parents and staff coordinate various activities throughout the year. Evening workshops are scheduled from time to time for parents to provide opportunities to connect and support one another. Some of our annual events include a Spring Get Together, a family picnic in the summer and our Fall Retreat that occurs annually on Thanksgiving weekend.

Annual Fall Retreat

Held in a peaceful camp setting every Thanksgiving weekend, our Fall Retreat caters to every member of the family. Its family style, accessible accommodation provides a great time for all to get away from daily routines and enjoy a different environment. Support and learning from others who have similar experiences is therapeutic and refreshing to the body, soul and mind. Activities include massages, soaking in the hot tub and enjoying specialty coffees, as well as playing family games, making crafts and enjoying the many outdoor activities available on the beautiful grounds. Also included are worship times and great inspirational speakers.

Consider supporting this event by donating here, by being a volunteer, or by contributing snacks, prizes or entertainment for the weekend.
